Karrie Baas is the owner of Baas Framing Studio. A graduate of Cornish College of the Arts, Baas is a painter with an interest in contemporary portraiture and the creative process. In January 2011, Baas began a new project: creating one drawing for each day of the year. Using the blind contour method (in which the artist does not look at the paper while drawing), the drawings explore the connection between hand and eye, creating what the artist calls a “natural or honest line”. The works encompass a variety of subjects and experiences reflecting the artist's domestic and social life. Together, the 365 drawings invite us to consider the passage of a year in a new and visual way.
"365 in 365: A Drawing Project" will be on view May 10 - June 9, 2012 at Baas Framing Studio.
